Is Gray Zone Warfare Coming to PS5 and Xbox? Console Release Explained

Is Gray Zone Warfare coming to PS5 and Xbox? Yes. It is confirmed for console, but not for a while yet, and there is one caveat doing all the heavy lifting. Let me give you the whole thing in plain terms so you can stop digging.

The one-line answer. MADFINGER Games has confirmed that Gray Zone Warfare is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. PR Director Rick Lagnese said it directly on X in early April 2026 when a fan asked: console release is planned for 1.0. So if you are on a pad and waiting, the door is open. You just cannot walk through it yet.

The caveat that matters: it is tied to 1.0. This is the part most headlines bury. Console is not coming as a separate early access port or a quiet beta. It is bolted to the full 1.0 release, and 1.0 is still a long way out. The game has been in PC early access since April 2024, and the studio itself has said only a fraction of the full design is actually in the game so far. So when I say console is “coming, not soon,” I mean it. There is no console release date because there is no 1.0 release date, and I would not hold my breath for either in 2026. Anyone selling you a hard launch window right now is guessing.

Why MADFINGER is doing it this way. This is the Escape from Tarkov approach: do not ship the console version until the game is genuinely finished. Gray Zone Warfare runs on Unreal Engine 5 and leans hard on its big, dense open areas on Lamang, which is exactly the kind of thing that punishes a rushed console port. The studio has been clear they will not put out a rough one. As someone who plays this game solo more than anything else on the channel, I would rather wait for a console version that holds up than get a stuttering one early. If you want to see why the performance bar matters, the 0.4 Spearhead rebuild is basically a different game from launch, and I went through all of it in Gray Zone Warfare 0.4 is basically a NEW GAME: Spearhead First Impressions. That is the scale a console port has to carry.

What about crossplay? Here is the honest, current state: it is on the table but not locked in. MADFINGER has said it is considering crossplay between PC and console to keep the communities together, but the studio has been clear the final call will be made closer to 1.0, not now. So if you see a post claiming “PS5 and PC crossplay is confirmed,” that is getting ahead of the facts. The accurate version is that crossplay is being looked at, and we will not know for sure until MADFINGER decides nearer launch. For how I play, mostly solo and at my own pace, crossplay is not the dealbreaker it would be for a squad versus squad game, but if you are coming to console to run with PC mates, this is the question to keep an eye on.

So where does that leave you? If you are on console and want Gray Zone Warfare, the realistic plan is: it is coming, it is real, and it arrives when 1.0 does, which is a 2027-or-later kind of conversation, not a “wishlist it for next month” one. If you are impatient and you own a capable PC, the early access build is already my main game. If you are on a pad, the smartest move is to follow the roadmap and let the game cook.

This is an update-as-news-lands page, so I will keep it current the moment MADFINGER gives a firmer window or settles the crossplay question.
