Every verdict on this site comes from actually playing the game. Not a press build, not a trailer, not someone else's review pasted back at you. Me, solo, on PvE, for real hours, usually on the hardest sensible difficulty, until I know whether it is worth your time and money.
How I test
I play a game the way you would: solo first, PvE first, no shortcuts and no cheats. I do not put a verdict on anything until I am past both the honeymoon and the grind, because a lot of games are brilliant for two hours and miserable for the next twenty. I note where a game is genuinely great and where it falls apart, and I say both out loud.
The rating, 1 to 5
- 5 / Exceptional. Rare. Buy it now.
- 4 / Worth it. A proper recommendation for the lane it is in.
- 3 / Situational. Good if you want exactly this. Otherwise wait for a sale.
- 2 / Wait. Rough, unfinished or overpriced for now.
- 1 / Skip. Not worth it, and I will tell you why.
Everything is sourced
Prices, patches, release dates, claims about how a game actually works: every one has a link you can click, listed at the bottom of the report. If I cannot source it, I will not state it as fact. The difference between a take and a fact matters, so I keep them separate.
What I won't do
I will not put a verdict on a game I have not properly played, and I am not the channel for PvP sweat or chasing the ranked meta. Solo, PvE and open-world is the lane, and I stay in it. That focus is the whole point: if you play the way I play, my verdict is built for you.
When I get it wrong
Games change. When a patch shifts my verdict, I update the report and date the change rather than pretending the old take still stands. Spot an error or think I have called one wrong? Tell me, and read the full editorial standards for how the money, the corrections and the writing actually work.
FAQ
How does WillyB rate games?
Every verdict comes from actually playing the game solo, on PvE, for real hours, usually on the hardest sensible difficulty, until it is clear whether it is worth your time and money. Ratings are 1 to 5. No game is rated from a trailer, a press build or someone else's review.
What do the star ratings mean?
5 is rare and means buy it now. 4 is a proper recommendation for its lane. 3 is situational: good if you want exactly this, otherwise wait for a sale. 2 means wait, it is rough or overpriced for now. 1 means skip it.
Does WillyB take money for reviews?
No. No studio pays for a verdict here, ever. A bad game gets called a bad game. Some gear links are affiliate links and the channel is supported by memberships and tips, all disclosed on the editorial standards page.
What does WillyB not cover?
No verdict goes on a game I have not properly played. This is a solo, PvE and open-world channel, not a PvP-sweat or ranked-meta one, and I stay in that lane.
