Let me clear something up, because I see people get it wrong. The Spartan Protocol is not an official Ghost Recon update, and it is not one mod you download in a single click. The Spartan Protocol is my series, here on the channel. It is me taking Ghost Recon Breakpoint and rebuilding it with a stack of mods, adding more as the series goes, until it plays and looks like a completely different, far more brutal game. This is a channel thing, start to finish. So if you have been watching the series and wondering how to set it up yourself, this is the piece for you. Here is the concept, and the full list of every mod in the stack.
What The Spartan Protocol actually is
The premise is simple. Breakpoint launched as a bloated, hand-holding mess, but the open world is gorgeous and the tactical bones are solid. So instead of writing it off, I started The Spartan Protocol: a run where I layer community mods on top of the base game to fix what Ubisoft never did, and I keep adding to that stack as the series goes. Each part, the game gets a little harder, a little more authentic, a little more dangerous. It started with a few core overhauls and has grown into the setup below.
It is worth saying again, plainly: there is no official content here, and there is no one-click pack. It is a curated stack of separate mods, each its own download, that I have built up over the series. The series began with everything has changed, and within a couple of parts it had already turned into a game where stealth is impossible now. If you only watch one to get the idea, this is what Breakpoint should have been is the one.
The foundation: the mods that change how it plays
These are the core overhauls that make the Spartan Protocol feel the way it does. Difficulty, threat, audio and immersion:
- Spartan Mod: the central realism and difficulty overhaul the series is named after. This is the heart of the whole thing.
- Increased Enemy Presence: packs the world with far more enemies and denser patrols, so nowhere feels safe.
- Shadow Company: throws a tougher, more capable enemy force at you to fight.
- Fear The Radio: makes getting spotted genuinely dangerous, because now being seen has consequences that spiral.
- Authentic Warfare Sound: overhauls the weapon and combat audio so firefights actually sound real.
- Realistic Reticles: swaps the game’s reticles for real-world optic reticles, a small touch that does a lot for immersion.
- Sling Positions: weapon-carry immersion, for when you want to look the part as well as play it.
Together, these are what turn a forgiving open-world shooter into a tense, punishing milsim where every approach has to be deliberate.
The arsenal: the real weapons I add over the series
On top of the overhaul mods, a big part of the series is bringing in real-world weapons and optics that were never in the base game. These get added as the run goes on:
- Vortex Viper HS Scope: a proper real-world optic.
- TTI V7 Harbinger 308: a hard-hitting 308 rifle.
- Sig P226 Mk25: the sidearm.
- AK5C (Automatkarbin 5C): the Swedish service rifle.
- Mossberg 590: one of the shotguns. If you saw me ask whether this brutal shotgun is actually worth it, this is the kind of thing I mean.
- VEPR-12 MOLOT (Zenitco): a meaner, kitted-out combat shotgun.
- CROM CR-7 500 Blackout: a 500 Blackout platform.
- KAC SR25: a precision marksman rifle.
That is the stack as it stands. Because I keep adding to it, the single best place to get the current, always-up-to-date list is my Ghost Recon Breakpoint hub, which pulls the exact mods straight from the videos they appear in, every link going to the mod’s own page.
How to set it up, and the catches
A few honest things before you go and recreate this:
- It is PC only. Every one of these is a PC mod, mostly from Nexus Mods. Console Breakpoint cannot run them, so you need the PC version. That is the biggest catch for most people.
- There is no one-click install. Each mod is its own download with its own steps. You install them individually and may need to mind the load order. Follow each mod’s own page for current instructions rather than an old video, because mods break and change with updates.
- Back up your game first. Standard modding advice, but worth repeating.
- It is genuinely hard. That is the entire design goal. If you want a relaxed power fantasy, this is the opposite. The Spartan Protocol is built to make you earn every objective.
My take
This series is one of my favourite things on the channel, because it turns a game everyone wrote off into something genuinely special, and it does it with nothing but the work of a great modding community. If you are on PC and you love deliberate, punishing, stealth-driven tactical play, the stack above is a brilliant weekend project, and then you have got the same setup I run.
For the wider rundown on getting the most out of this game, I put together how to make Ghost Recon Breakpoint great, and my honest verdict on the base game is in is Ghost Recon Breakpoint worth it in 2026. If you want a tactical experience built that way from the ground up instead of modded into shape, I compared the two in Ready or Not vs Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The full Breakpoint run, and the live mod list, are on the Ghost Recon Breakpoint hub. The Spartan Protocol series continues on the channel.

FAQ
What is The Spartan Protocol in Ghost Recon Breakpoint?
The Spartan Protocol is my series on the WillyB channel. It is not an official Ubisoft update, and it is not a single downloadable mod pack. It is me playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint with a growing stack of separate community mods, layered on over the course of the series to fundamentally change how the game plays, sounds and looks. The name is the series, not a product.
Is The Spartan Protocol an official update or a mod pack you can download in one click?
Neither. There is no official Breakpoint content behind it, and there is no single file that installs the whole thing. It is a curated stack of individual community mods, each one its own download, that I have built up across the series. You install them separately on PC to recreate the setup.
What mods does WillyB use in The Spartan Protocol?
The foundation is the Spartan Mod, Increased Enemy Presence, Shadow Company, Fear The Radio, Authentic Warfare Sound, Realistic Reticles and Sling Positions, which change the difficulty, threat, audio and feel. On top of that I add real-world weapons and optics over the series, including the Vortex Viper HS scope, TTI V7 Harbinger 308, Sig P226 Mk25, AK5C, Mossberg 590, VEPR-12 MOLOT, CROM CR-7 500 Blackout and KAC SR25. The full, always-current list lives on the Ghost Recon Breakpoint hub.
Is The Spartan Protocol setup available on console?
No. These are PC mods, installed mainly through Nexus Mods, so the Spartan Protocol setup is PC only. Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PlayStation and Xbox cannot install them. If you want to recreate this, you need the PC version of the game.
How do I set up the Spartan Protocol mod stack?
Each mod is a separate download from its own page, mostly on Nexus Mods. You install them individually on the PC version and follow each mod's own instructions, since setups and load order can change between updates. Always back up your game first, and check each mod's page for the current install steps rather than following an old tutorial.
