Is Ground Branch 1.0 Actually Worth It?

After 8 years in Early Access, Ground Branch has FINALLY hit its full 1.0 release and I somehow got my hands on it early, so this is a first look at the launch build before most people can even play it. And 1.0 is a proper milestone: it brings back Operations, the game's campaign framework, with an all-new Prologue set in the mountains of Northwest Pakistan two narrative missions with full briefings, voice-over and persistent progression plus a brand-new Outpost map built around an old fort on a ridge near the Afghan border. On top of that there are big improvements to the AI, visuals, animation and immersion across the board. This is Ground Branch trying to be more than "brutal AI on an empty map," and I wanted to see if it lands. Spoiler: it's still one of the most unforgiving tactical shooters going, and the AI still scares me more than most horror games.
