The best PvE games for solo players in 2026

This whole channel is built on one simple idea: the best gaming does not need other players ruining it. No toxic lobbies, no being carried or flamed, no needing a five-stack to have a good time. Just you, the game, and the satisfaction of getting good at something on your own terms. So here are the PvE games I would put in front of any solo player in 2026, sorted by what kind of experience you are after.

If you want the extraction loop: Gray Zone Warfare. A gorgeous, tense mil-sim extraction shooter with full AI factions and a PvE-friendly way to play the whole island solo. It is my most-played game for a reason. Right behind it sits Incursion Red River, which is almost entirely PvE and built from the ground up for the no-squad crowd. For the full breakdown of this corner, see the best solo PvE extraction shooters to play right now.

If you want hardcore survival: STALKER 2. After its big A-Life overhaul, the Zone finally lives and breathes the way it should, and a slow solo run on Master difficulty is some of the most atmospheric survival gaming going. I made the full case in is STALKER 2 worth playing in 2026. For something with a story and a motorbike, Days Gone Remastered is an underrated open-world survival epic, and its one-life Permadeath mode is a brilliant solo challenge.

If you want tactical, by-the-book gameplay: Ready or Not. The most stressful, deliberate breach-and-clear experience out there, fully playable solo by commanding your AI element. Nothing else makes a doorway feel so dangerous. I covered its latest with the Boiling Point report.

If you want a deep looter with endless build-crafting: The Division 2. Seven years old and still being fed real content, it remains one of the best co-op or solo PvE looter shooters, with a genuinely deep endgame to sink into. More in the Year 8 report.

If you want something genuinely different: Witchfire. A brutally hard, strictly single-player dark-fantasy FPS that fuses Souls-like combat with an extraction loop. Unlike anything else on this list, and one for players who want a real challenge with a strong identity. I wrote it up here.

If you want chaos with a couple of mates: Helldivers 2. Not solo, but the co-op PvE giant of the moment, with a live galactic war that makes every drop feel like it matters. A great change of pace from the tense, careful stuff. My take is here, and for a bleaker co-op option there is The Forever Winter.

The genre has never catered to solo PvE players better than it does right now, which is exactly the lane this channel has always run in. Whatever you are in the mood for, there is something on this list that does not require you to deal with a single other human being, and that is a beautiful thing.
